Description

Latin Name : Aspalathus Linearis

Origin Country: European Union

Green rooibos tea is a type of tea made from the leaves of the rooibos plant (Aspalathus linearis), which is native to South Africa. Unlike traditional rooibos tea, which undergoes a fermentation process that turns the leaves red, green rooibos tea is made from leaves that are quickly dried and steamed to prevent fermentation, thus retaining their green colour.
Green rooibos tea has a milder and slightly sweeter taste compared to traditional red rooibos tea. It often has grassy, herbaceous, and slightly nutty notes, with a naturally sweet undertone.
Green rooibos tea can be enjoyed hot or cold and is often used as a base for herbal blends or flavoured teas. It pairs well with various herbs, fruits, and spices, making it a versatile ingredient in tea blends.

–  Antioxidant, anti-steatotic and anti-inflammatory activity are some of the benefits you may get from this tea.

–  Rooibos may have the ability to fight free radicals.

–  Antioxidants are important for a healthy heart, which is why rooibos tea may provide cardiovascular benefits. It may also keep cholesterpl levels in check.

–  Eases irritability, headaches, nervous tension and insomnia.

– Acts as an anti-spasmodic agent, to relieve stomach cramps and colic in infants.

–  Can be used to treat hay fever, asthma and eczema.

–  Placed directly on the skin, it can slow the aging process.

–  Boosts the immune system.

– Rooibos tea contains no oxalic acid, so it can safely be consumed by people who are prone to kidney stones.

To make an infusion, place 1-2 teaspoons of dried herb in a tea infuser or teapot or mug for each cup of tea you intend to brew. Cover with boiling water. Place on the lid (or cover your cup with a saucer). Allow the mixture to steep for 10 'to 15' minutes or overnight. Then strain the tea and serve. Add if you want honey, milk or lemon wedge for flavour. You can also enjoy it like a refreshing iced drink.
Although Rooibos tea is generally considered safe to use, medicinally, consuming more than the recommended dosage may cause diarrhea and turn rooibos tea into a laxative. In any case you should consult with your healthcare doctor before using any herb especially if you’re taking other medications or having health problems.
