Boswellia serrata, also known as Indian Frankincense, is a tree native to certain regions of India, particularly in the states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh. Boswellia serrata (Salai/Salai guggul), is a moderate to large sized branching tree of family Burseraceae (Genus Boswellia), grows in dry mountainous regions of India, Northern Africa and Middle East. The appearance of this extract is transparent, and the taste of this extract is slightly bitter and sour.
