Tabebuia impetiginosa, commonly known as Pau d’Arco or Lapacho or the pink trumpet tree, is a species of flowering tree that is native to South America. The most striking feature of Tabebuia impetiginosa is its vibrant pink flowers, which bloom in clusters during the dry season (June to August) in its native habitat. The leaves are opposite, compound, and palmate with five to seven leaflets. The tree produces showy, trumpet-shaped flowers that range in color from pink to purple.The flowers are followed by small, round fruits that contain several seeds. Pau d’Arco bark has a bitter and slightly astringent taste. The smell of Lapacho bark is often described as woody, earthy, and slightly sweet.
