Latin Name : Camellia Sinensis

Origin Country: China

Pu-erh tea is a unique type of fermented tea that’s traditionally made in the Yunnan Province of China. Because Pu-erh tea is fermented, meaning it has higher concentrations of these antioxidants than non-fermented teas.

Many people drink pu-erh tea because it not only provides the health benefits of tea but also those of fermented food.

–  Pu-erh tea improves digestion and can help relieve symptoms of constipation thanks to the existence of lovastatin in these tea leaves. The antioxidants and polyphenols in pu-erh teas also aid in digestion and fat breakdown.

–  Since pu-erh tea is high in antioxidants and vitamin C, drinking a cup of this brew every day can help prevent illnesses such as the common cold and flu.

–  Pu-erh tea uses its oxidative properties to deliver increased levels of oxygen, which enhances circulation and blood flow. By delivering more oxygen to the brain, pu-erh tea can help combat headaches and migraines and reduces free radicals that can cause serious illnesses.

– Additionally, pu-erh tea is fermented, so it can also introduce healthy probiotics into your body. These probiotics may help improve your blood sugar control, which plays a key role in weight management.

To make an infusion: 1. Place the pu-erh tea cake or loose leaves in the teapot and add just enough boiling water to cover the leaves, then discard the water. Repeat this step once more, being sure to discard the water. This “rinse” helps ensure a high quality tea. 2. Place 1-2 teaspoons of dried herb in a tea infuser or teapot or mug for each cup of tea you intend to brew. Cover with boiling water. Place on the lid (or cover your cup with a saucer). 3. Allow the mixture to steep for 10' to 15' minutes. 4. Then strain the tea and serve. Drink 1-3 cups of tea a day. Add if you want honey or milk for flavour.
Although pu erh tea is generally considered safe to use, consuming more than the recommended dosage may cause side effects due to the caffeine content. Some of the side effects of excessive caffeine can include: insomnia, dizziness, shaking, changes to your heart’s rhythm, diarrhea. In any case you should consult with your healthcare doctor before using any herb especially if you’re taking other medications or having health problems.
