Description

Latin Name : Trifolium Pratense

Origin Country: Albania

Red clover (Trifolium pratense) is a wild flowering plant belonging to the same family as peas and beans.. It’s widely used in traditional medicine as a remedy for menopause symptoms, asthma, whooping cough, arthritis, and even cancer.

–  Menopausal symptoms: Red clover’s high isoflavone content is believed to help lower menopause symptoms, such as hot flashes and night sweats.

–  Hypertension: Some of the unique properties of red clover include its ability to reduce inflammation throughout the body, particularly in the cardiovascular system.

–  Immune System: If you consume the greens of red clover, you are much more likely to get a high dose of vitamin C than if you consume the tea. Vitamin C is a powerful immune system booster, and can help to stimulate the production of white blood cells. Furthermore, if you consume the leaves in the form of tea, then you can get a healthy dose of antioxidants.

–  Cholesterol-Lowering Properties: If you struggle to maintain healthy cholesterol levels, you significantly increase your chances of heart attacks and strokes as a result of atherosclerosis. Therefore, anything that can lower cholesterol levels is valuable, and research has shown that LDL cholesterol levels can be reduced by adding red clover.

–  Detoxify the Body: If you want to find a quick way to detoxify your body and clear your system of excess toxins and salts, nothing works better than a diuretic. Red clover has been connected to increasing urination, thereby helping release excess water, toxins, and even fat from the body.

To make an infusion, place 1-2 teaspoons of dried herb in a tea infuser or teapot or mug for each cup of tea you intend to brew. Cover with boiling water. Place on the lid (or cover your cup with a saucer). Allow the mixture to steep for 10' to 15' minutes or overnight. Then strain the tea and serve. Drink 1-3 cups of tea a day.
Red clover is generally considered safe when used properly but possible side effects may include rash-like reactions, muscle ache, headache, nausea, and vaginal bleeding (spotting) in some women. In any case you should consult with your healthcare doctor before using any herb especially if you’re taking other medications or having health problems.
