Spearmint is the best known herb among all the varieties of mint, in the mint family. Its leaves have a mild, sweet fragrance and aroma. Spearmint is used either in its fresh or dried form for seasoning various delicacies.

  • Spearmint tea is an excellent source of vitamins and minerals. It contains niacin, potassium, vitamins A and B6, riboflavin, folate, calcium, iron, copper, magnesium and manganese. Spearmint tea is also caffeine free and very low in calories, making it a great alternative to black tea or coffee.
  • Spearmint tea is beneficial in relieving irritable bowel symptoms such as indigestion and colonic muscle spasms.

To make an infusion, place 1-2 teaspoons of dried herb in a tea infuser or teapot or mug for each cup of tea you intend to brew. Cover with boiling water. Place on the lid (or cover your cup with a saucer). Allow the mixture to steep for 10 'to 15' minutes or overnight. Then strain the tea and serve. Add if you want honey, milk or lemon wedge for flavour.
