Camellia sinensis is the botanical name for the tea plant. It is a member of the Theaceae family and is native to East Asia, including China, Japan, Taiwan, and parts of Southeast Asia.
Camellia sinensis has glossy, dark green leaves and produces small white flowers with yellow stamens.
