Description

Latin Name : Fucus Vesiculosus

Origin Country: France

Bladderwrack seaweed is also ideal for disorders such as constipation, indigestion and heartburn, strengthening the stomach and intestinal motility, accelerating digestion and proper exfoliation.

Also important are the diuretic properties of the plant with applications such as local swelling and fluid retention for various reasons – as in cases of rheumatoid arthritis.

The plant also has antibacterial, antioxidant, anticoagulant, hematopoietic, anti-hyperlipidemic and antidiabetic properties. Gelatin, which contains alginate, is thought to inhibit bile salts by lowering blood cholesterol levels while acting as an antihypertensive.

Finally, it has anti-estrogenic effects.

Bladderwrack can be eaten whole or made into tea, using 1 teaspoon, allowing each cup to sit for at least 10 minutes before drinking. Up to 3 cups a day can be consumed. No more than 150 mcg of iodine should be consumed from all sources, including bladderwrack, per day.
It may contain high concentrations of iodine, which could cause or worsen thyroid problems.
